Hope everybody is holding up ok after what has been a hell of a week.

After working their backsides off, the banks have had their home loan relief packages approved by the regulators and internal systems set up ready to approve these as quickly as possible.

As of tomorrow, they will all be able to process your requests for the different home loan relief options, which are outlined on the link below. These will be available to the majority of people affected, with each bank having slightly different packages and processes, but all based around these three options.

www.jdmortgages.co.nz/temporary-home-loan-options-covid-19/

Now is the time to get in touch with your bank or advisor to discuss your options.

Please remember to be patient and kind, the bank staff are working around the clock to help, and everybody is doing the best they can during these stressful times.

There are a lot of other assistance measures on offer by the different banks too - for both personal and business customers. These can easily be found on your banks Covid-19 financial support web pages.

If you have any questions about your situation or if there is anything we can do to help, you know where we are.

Help is there, so if you need it please reach out.

Home Loan Relief Options

A bit of a long one sorry, but this is a copy of an email that just went out to our current database 🙂

The good news is that after a lot of hard work their end, we are starting to get good communication through from the different banks and lenders as to your options and how they are going to process these requests.
Now is the time to have a think about your situation, how much this is going to affect you financially and then contact us (or your bank) to discuss what they mean for you, how you are affected and get the ball rolling on the process to get these in place for you guys.

The good news is that they have all made, or are making, the process as simple as possible which will make the implementation as easy and fast as possible during these unprecedented times. Banks haven’t released the exact details, but we know enough about what they will look like for us to have robust conversations with you all about your options and find the solution that suits you best.

A few things to note – I could write a book with thoughts about everything at the moment, but some key bullet points below;

1. This is a fluid situation for everybody – the banks and all their staff are working extremely hard at the moment to get this in place and then make it all happen. I know these are tough times with a lot of stress financially, but please remember the magnitude of this all and be as patient and understanding as we all navigate this together.

2. Please feel free to talk to us about anything financial at this time – debt consolidation, hardship options, insurance, your position or plans moving forward and how this might affect things – anything on your mind to do with finances please feel free to raise them with us. We can’t give you advice on all areas, but we can give some general advice and help make sure you have the resources needed or are pointed in the right direction.

3. I am going to need to have a large number of these conversations – if your situation is urgent, i.e. you already have no money coming in, no way to make loan payments over the next few days/weeks, etc. – please reply and let me know accordingly. We will work through everybody as quick as we can, but please reach out if you need something urgently and I will do my best to accommodate you ASAP.

4. We are still waiting on final confirmation on if these options will be available to everybody – so although we are hopeful they are offered to all, we cannot confirm this as of yet. So please understand we are front footing this as I want to get a jump on discussions with you so that we can do our best to assist you in whatever way we can as this all falls into place.

We are in this with you – I have already had a large number of conversations with many of you and am humbled by the kind response to the support and updates we have been offering. This is why I do what I do and will continue to endeavour to give you all as much information as I can to help you feel in control, understand as we try to make the best financial decision possible.

These times are tough, and I will do anything and everything I can to help anybody that needs it from start to finish.

Repayment Holiday Announcement

I hope this finds you all doing ok during these times, please make sure you are looking after yourselves and others as much as possible ☺

We have been frantically trying to keep you all up to date, as understandably we all want answers as fast and as clear as possible.

The good news is we had a major announcement today; there is going to be mass relief through 6 month Mortgage repayment holidays, which will apply to both principal and interest on your home loans. This is going to come as huge relief to a lot of you, as we are already having people laid off, business’ shutting for good and obviously we are all on lock down for the next 4 weeks.

Now this is where I have to implore you to be slightly patient again - we are still waiting on the who, what, when and how from the banks, as they work with the regulators for final sign off as to how this will all be implemented.
I know it’s hard to wait when you are already being sent home and unsure about what’s happening with your jobs, but please know banks are doing all they can to get this going as soon as possible and are gearing up to help everybody as quickly as possible.

The reason for these timelines is what banks are wanting to do, and how they are wanting to approve it, sits well outside their capability with current regulation imposed on them. It is reasonably difficult to get mortgage relief at the moment due to an increase in regulation making this harder than it once was. Because of this, the banks are getting sign off to approve this in a way that will allow them to help as many people as fast and as easily as possible, and that takes time.

The next piece of good news is that we are hearing the criteria that will need to be met, as well as the supporting documentation, should be quite low. This means that once this rolling getting the assistance that a lot of you need will be easier to approve and faster to implement.

In the meantime, now is the time to look at your finances and in particular any personal loans, credit cards and short term debt that could easily spiral out of control. If you have debts like these, please contact me as a debt consolidation loan can make the world of difference, especially in times like these. Remember that we have access to the full range of lenders across both the personal and home loan spaces.

I will be working away non-stop to help, from my new set up at home, and feeling grateful for lunch breaks with my family – try to find those silver linings as we all traverse these next 4 weeks together ☺

As always, please sing out if I can help – anything and everything, you know where I am.
